VRZ: Torment Leaving Early Access Next Week

Today, StormBringer Studios has announced that its virtual reality (VR) zombie shooter VRZ: Torment will be leaving Steam Early Access after almost a year.

An open world first-person shooter (FPS) that mixes in survival and puzzle solving mechanics, VRZ: Torment originally launched on Steam Early Access back in June 2016. Created specifically for the Virtuix Omni, omni-directional treadmill, the videogame has players exploring a zombie and ghost infested island, where they not only have to survive the relentless hordes of undead, they also need to uncover the secrets locked within – as this is one giant experiment by a group called The Far Watchers.

As with any zombie videogame there are weapons galore to find and use against enemies, including: AK 47’s, shotguns, rifles, revolvers, proxy mines, grenades, katana’s, bows and arrows, axes and much more. While some weapons can just be found others have to be unlocked by completing quests.

VRZ: Torment may have been designed for the Virtuix Omni but it also supports Cyberith, Hardlight WIP and the Oculus Touch.

The videogame is scheduled to fully launch next Friday, 19th May 2017 and can be downloaded through Steam for £9.99 GBP.

VRZ: Torment isn’t the only title to support Virtuix Omni, with Vertigo Studios revealing compatibility with its zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine. Omni-directional treadmills do offer a viable option for movement in VR, but they’re not cheap and not that easy to get hold of. Back in December 2016 Virtuix issued a statement saying all of its international Kickstarter backers would be getting refunds due to shipping issues.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of StormBringer Studios and VRZ: Torment, reporting back with the latest updates.
