These Clever Pet Adoption Ads Reveal A Hidden Picture When You Look Closely

Can you spot the animal silhouette in these photos? Pay attention to the white space in the middle. Something’s missing from the picture.

This clever ad series uses white space to reveal a missing pet in each photo. If you look closely, you’ll spot a cat, dog, or rabbit hidden in each portrait.

The double-portrait effect was achieved using an optical illusion known as "Rubin’s vase", an illusion that relies on the reversal of positive and negative space. In this series, the white negative space between each family photo is used to reveal that "[t]here’s always room for one more. Adopt.”

There’s always room for one more. Adopt.

The campaign was created in collaboration between Amol Jadhav and art director / retoucher Pranav Bhide for the World For All Animal Care And Adoptions in Mumbai.

The campaign was used for the 2017 World For All pet adoption event. Thanks to all involved, 42 animals found a new home during the event.
